For too many years, the Christian life has been compartmentalized: it’s evangelism in one compartment and discipleship in another; it’s what we do to get people into heaven in one compartment and being a blessing to others on earth in another; it’s a matter of what you know in one compartment and it’s a matter of what you do in another; it’s a life of personal piety in one compartment and it’s a life of community with others in another.

Compartments make for disintegration. When we do not seek to integrate the Christian life into one holy and holistic thing, we become dis-integrated Christians.

The values I will convey to those under my mentorship will be a re-integration of all it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

Evangelism is a major part of discipleship, and vice-versa. Christianity is not about simply getting people into heaven, but to become part of the Kingdom Community that are seeking to bless the people of the world. What we learn from the Word of God and from our interaction with fellow-believers in community means little if it does not manifest itself in loving action. Personal holiness is not best accomplished in mere solitude, but in the interaction of relationships—both with the living God and with fellow human beings.

I will be training and mentoring the CCO staff on the campuses of Northern Ohio. I will help these young people understand in their hearts the life-transforming and world-transforming power of the story of Jesus Christ; strategize with them as to how to best reach the students on their campus; and work toward multiplying CCO’s ministry onto other campuses. If our staff members authentically live integrated Christian lives and experience the life transformation such integration brings, they will be able to multiply that in the lives of those they are reaching on our area’s campuses.

I believe that through my mentoring the CCO staff in Northern Ohio, Jesus Christ can flow his blessings to the unchurched—blessings of integrated holy and holistic Christian living.
